Students in class have done their research, looking at statistics, listened to commentary predicting the top picks for this year's NCAA football lineup. We are using football in a semester-long project to learn about integers, rational numbers, statistics, and probability. So far, we have utilized football to talk about adding and subtracting integers, multiplying and dividing integers, and now moving into fractions and decimals. This is all leading up to our uncovering skills in statistics and probability. Students chose to follow these teams: Alabama, Ohio State University, Florida State University, The University of Florida, and Louisiana State University. Which one would you pick? What information would you want to know about the team to decide? What information will you need to follow during the season to determine probability of the team entering a bowl game? How do athletes use math?
Stay tuned to this blog to see pics and posts about our projects! Math is super duper important in life! Here is NFL player and mathlete, John Urschel, to tell you about that! www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/06/29/john-urschel-math-problem_n_7687732.html?utm_hp_ref=mathematics
